Grand Traverse Arrests Today
Grand Traverse County publishes no daily arrest feed. No 24-hour or 48-hour booking list exists either. The live official option is the Grand Traverse inmate inquiry. It answers a narrower question. Is this person reported in county custody at the moment you search? It is not a clocked list of everyone arrested on a fixed day. A person may have been released or cited without jail admission. Others are transferred or held elsewhere. Some are simply not yet indexed.
Time labels matter. An alleged offense date, an arrest time, and a jail admission time can all differ. A late-night arrest can become a next-day booking. Processing, data entry, and web indexing happen at separate points. An empty result does not mean no arrest occurred.
The Sheriff's Office page is the official agency route to custody services. It lists the department's contact channels. Corrections handles jail questions directly.
Check the official page before trusting any repost.
Check Grand Traverse Bookings
Work from the fastest live source toward the office that owns the record. Keep the full legal name handy. An approximate arrest time helps too. A date of birth, subject number, booking number, or arresting agency can separate similar names.
- Search the official county inmate inquiry for current county custody. Save the date and time of the search.
- If no result appears, call Grand Traverse County Corrections at 231-922-4530. Ask whether the person is currently housed, not whether the person is guilty.
- Check MI-VINE for a custody record or notification option. VINE can lag intake and is not a court docket.
- Contact the arresting agency's records office when the question concerns the incident report or a citation rather than present jail custody.
- Use the 86th District Court or 13th Circuit Court after a case has been filed. Court data tracks proceedings, not a same-day jail list.
The county-wide recent-arrest lookup explains how booking records, photos, court records, and state or federal custody differ. It covers more than one day. Skip stale cached pages for a same-day answer.
Note: Corrections posts separate weekday business hours and an after-hours line, so call 231-922-4530 when the office line is unstaffed.
Grand Traverse Arrest Fields
Because no official 24-hour feed exists, the fields below come from the live inquiry and the underlying booking record. The portal is uneven. Every field or photo does not always appear. A focused FOIA request can seek omitted booking material.
| Field | What it can establish |
|---|---|
| Full name or subject number | Identity in the custody system; use another identifier for common names. |
| Booking or admission time | Jail intake time, which may differ from the arrest or offense time. |
| Arresting agency | The office that generated the incident record. |
| Charges as booked | Intake charges, not a finding of guilt or final disposition. |
| Bond and court information | Release terms or next proceeding where available; later court orders control. |
| Booking photograph | May appear in a live result; if absent, request it under Michigan FOIA. |
A current result only shows custody at that moment. It will not give the exact arrest time. It will not give the final charge either.
Grand Traverse Arrest Fallbacks
The direct inquiry works when it works. An older county "Inmates" link has returned a missing-page response, though. That does not mean the jail stopped holding people. Treat the direct portal and the Corrections phone as separate channels. MI-VINE adds custody event checks. The sheriff's FOIA route reaches retained records.
A written request should name the person, the approximate date range, the arresting agency, and the booking number if known. Ask for the booking card, admission and release fields, and photograph only when needed. The Sheriff FOIA page is the official request path. Traverse City Police arrests are different. The city's Central Records may hold the incident report even though the jail holds the booking record.
The Sheriff's Office sits at 851 Woodmere Avenue, Traverse City, MI 49686. Its main line is 231-995-5000. Central Records is 231-995-5005. Those offices answer different questions than the jail-information line.
Grand Traverse Arrest Timing
With no clocked daily feed, read times carefully. A person arrested before midnight can be admitted the next day. Someone who posts bond quickly may leave the roster fast. Others stay. The court may modify a charge while they wait. The live portal, booking record, and court register each describe a different stage.
- Arrest
- An officer takes a person into custody or issues a citation based on alleged conduct.
- Booking
- The jail records identity, intake, charges, property, and related custody details.
- Arraignment
- The first court stage at which charges and release terms are addressed.
- Disposition
- The later court outcome, such as dismissal, plea, acquittal, or sentence.
For case outcomes, use the county's Court Cases hub. Michigan law can limit court visibility, and a missing public case does not prove no record exists.
Grand Traverse Booking Photos
Grand Traverse County does not post a photo for every arrest made the same day. Start with the live inmate roster and open the individual result. Some listings show a booking photograph. Others do not. Under Michigan's FOIA guidance, a booking photo held by the sheriff is generally a public record. An exemption can still apply. Releasing an image could interfere with an investigation or a pending proceeding.
A missing image does not mean no booking happened. Web publication and public access by request are two different things. If the roster shows no photo for an arrested person, you can request that specific booking photograph from the Sheriff's Office. Give enough detail to identify the record. No photo gallery is hosted on this page.
Note: Prisoners moved to state prison appear in MDOC OTIS, while federal and immigration custody require separate federal locators.
